A very good quality Roman military bronze helmet carrying handle.
This item which dates to circa 3rd -4th century AD, is in excellent allover condition.
With barley sugar twist decoration to the length of the body and with simple horses head decoration to each end terminal ,this piece would have been suspended at the rear of the helmet on two leather loops allowing the soldier to carry the helmet when on the march...
Rare to find in any condition at all.
Size 15.0 CM in Length.
Lincolnshire excavations in 1978.
As with all of my antiquities and coins this item comes complete with a display box together with a certificate of authenticity.
