Description
A very rare and excellent quality large roman plumbata artillery projectile.
This item which dates to circa 4th -5th century AD, is in excellent allover condition.
In the Roman Period this weapon would have had a wooden shaft and flights and have been shot or thrown in large numbers at advancing infantry, thus causing carnage in the ranks.
It comes complete with its original lead weighted socket and long tapering iron shaft.
Size 17.0 CM in Length.
Norfolk excavations in 1979.
As with all of my antiquities and coins this item comes complete with a display box together with a certificate of authenticity.
