Edwardian Silver Flat Top Tankard with the Arms of Moore for the Earl of Drogheda, in the Charles II Style.
The tankard would have been in possession of the 9th or 10th Earls of Drogheda. The 9th Earl was Ponsonby William Moore (1846 - 1908) and the 10th Earl was Henry Charles Ponsonby Moore (1884 - 1957). The 9th Earl sat in the House of Lords as an Irish Representative Peer and also served as a Justice of the Peace for Devon, Queen's County and the County of Kildare. The 10th Earl served with the Irish Guards during the First World War and was appointed the Director General of Economic Warfare during the Second World War. Rubbed hallmarks to the body and clear part hallmarks to the cover interior for London 1905 by Edward Barnard & Sons Ltd. A retail mark for Lake Silversmith, Exeter, is to the underside of the base.
In excellent condition, free of dents, creases and repair. The tankard is watertight.
