Georgian, Old Sheffield Plate, warming entree dish or bain marie. Circa 1820 - 1830. Features gadrooned border and twin handles to the sides. The handle to the cover is fixed, but the cover can be removed if required. The underside features a screw cap reservoir to allow boiling water to be poured in. The dish itself is shallow, perhaps for eggs or bacon. A crest of a swan is featured on the cover and is formed from a rubbed in square of silver. The dish is raised upon four bun feet.
In excellent order with moderate surface wear.
