George III Graduated Pair of Early Old Sheffield Plate Salvers on Claw & Ball Feet, circa 1765. Of shaped, circular form with a raised scroll, leaf and gadrooned border.
Both are in original condition with no later chasing and no replating. Age related loss of definition to the border detail.
The larger salver in good condition with moderate surface wear and a couple of discolouration patches. The raised border slightly moving apart from the main surface, when viewed from the underside, but not loose at all.
The smaller salver in fair condition with high surface wear and some surface markings. There has been a crack to the raised border and this has been repaired with a bracket to the underside. Splits and cracking to the underside where the border has moved away from the main surface of the salver. Evidence of solder repair. All seems stable and nothing is loose or moving. The last four photos show the underside of the smaller salver.
Approximate weight for the pair is 1.835 kilos.
Approximate dimensions are 36 cm and 31 cm diameter, with a height of 4 cm.
