An Anglo Indian Silver Embossed Mug and Cover. The mug richly detailed with embossed scrolls and flowers. The handle of acanthus and intertwined snake form. The cover with a turned finial. There is a vacant central cartouche.
Rubbed marks to the foot rim for Middleton & Co. of Calcutta, circa 1830. The mark reads M & Co, with a thistle and castle to imitate the Edinburgh Assay Office hallmarks.
In excellent condition with very light surface wear commensurate with age. The mug does not leak and holds about 300ml full to the brim, so a half pint capacity.
Approximate weight is 274 grams or 8.8 troy ounces.
Approximate dimensions are 14 cm height, 10 cm length and 6.3 cm top rim diameter.
