A small vintage Moorcroft vase in the Hibiscus pattern by Walter Moorcroft.
The diameter is 86mm and the height is 72mm
The vase has been closely inspected and assessed as in excellent condition.
A lovely design with both red and yellow tone hibiscus flowers against a dark green ground.
The hibiscus pattern has been one of Moorcroft's most enduring designs with a number of developments over the years. Originally drawn by Walter Moorcroft c1949 developments included changes in the early 1960's, the coral hibiscus pattern introduced in 1968 and further designs following on for some years.
Regarding age there are two impressed, but very faint, backstamps on the base. While difficult to see they are definitely precent and more easily seen with the aid of a loupe glass or with a high resolution camera (as per the images attached). The style of the backstamps along with their positioning indicate a date range c1949 to 1986 hence the vase is clearly of genuine vintage age.
The bright floral design on the dark green ground makes for an attractive item which should prove a worthy addition to many a collection of vintage Moorcroft pottery.
This vintage Moorcroft Hibiscus vase is available by online order only however if planning to visit the Antiques Centre in York, please visit Cabinet 138 which is located on the Lower Ground Floor, and where other examples of Moorcroft pottery can be viewed.
