A vintage Moorcroft vase in the Hibiscus design by Walter Moorcroft.
The height is 155mm (6.10inch)
The design features a brown ground which seems to be a somewhat rarer option. The red tone of the floral pattern against the brown ground produces an attractive autumnal feel.
The hibiscus pattern has been one of Moorcroft's most enduring designs with a number of developments over the years. Originally drawn by Walter Moorcroft c1949 developments included changes in the early 1960's, the coral hibiscus pattern introduced in 1968 and further designs following on for some years.
Regarding the age of this vase there are MOORCROFT and MADE IN ENGLAND impressed backstamps which along with their positioning indicate a date range c1949 to 1986 hence the vase is clearly of genuine vintage age.
Condition:-
Antique and vintage items may have small imperfections and/or idiosyncrasies due to the manufacturing processes of the day, usage perhaps over many years and how an item has been stored. Any significant issues will always be highlighted in the description.
This vase has been closely inspected and assessed as in excellent vintage condition with no chips, cracks or restoration noted. In fact the only issue thought worthy of mention is what might best be described as a small lean when viewing from a given angle, perhaps indicative of its vintage status.
The vase should prove a worthy addition to many a collection of vintage Moorcroft pottery but its size might also make it suitable to display as a stand alone item, perhaps in an entrance hall or reception room.
