A Moorcroft lidded bowl in the Simeon design by Philip Gibson.
It was in 1990 that Moorcroft began to use year cyphers on their pottery i.e. symbols on the base to show the year an item was made, which is often different to the copyright date. This bowl has the 'Mushroom' symbol to show 2002 as the year of production.
The diameter (measured across the lid) is 122mm (4.8 inch) and the height (measured to the top of the lid) 69mm.
With a weight of over half a kilogram (513g) the bowl feels like a substantial piece of art pottery.
The bowl is in excellent overall condition.
This lidded bowl is available online only however if visiting the Antiques Centre in York please visit Cabinet 138 situated on the Lower Ground Floor to view other items of Moorcroft Pottery from early vintage pieces to more modern examples.
