A very good quality and seldom seen, Roman Ladies decorated bronze cloak brooch, in the form
of a cockeral.
This item which dates to circa the 2nd century AD, is in wonderful allover condition.
It shows a seated cockeral in a 3 dimensional form, with incised wing and feather detail,
and with a raised comb to the head.
Of a solid cast form with some original silvering still present in the low points.
The original fastening pin lost in antiquity as is usual, and likely how this piece was lost in the roman period.
Size 3.0 CM in Length
North Yorkshire find and collection 1971.
As with all of my antiquities and coins this item comes complete with a display box together with a certificate of authenticity.
