A superb quality William IV silver cup and cover. The sides of the cup are adorned with the figures of two farm workers wearing hats. One is carrying a scythe, whilst the other holds a rake. Both are stood upon sheaves of wheat which are applied to the lower part of the cup. Each side of the cup also features repousse foliate decoration. The cover finial is of a man shearing a sheep. A band of repousse foliate decoration sits below a reeded rim. The cup is free of inscriptions. The interior is gilded.
Condition is excellent with light surface wear commensurate with age.
Hallmarked to the body for London 1835 by William Theobalds & Lockington Bunn. The makers mark is partly rubbed.
Approximate weight is 1.721 kilos or 55.33 troy ounces.
