Description

Only suitable for sale within the UK, due to the ivory content in the teapot handle heat spacers. This item has been registered for exemption under the new Ivory Act and is legal to sell. We are happy for the registration number (H9RGR7E2) to be checked with the Animal & Plant Health Agency.

William IV period Old Sheffield Plate Matched Tea Set, circa 1835. Of squat melon circular form with each piece being raised on four ornate bracket feet. The sugar and creamer with gilt interiors. The teapot with leaf capped spout and handle with a berry and leaf finial. All three pieces are monogrammed, with the teapot one being different.

In excellent order with light surface wear, commensurate with age. The sugar bowl and cream jug feature the cross over globe mark of Blagden Hodgson & Co. of Sheffield. The teapot is unmarked.

Approximate weight for all three pieces is 1.6 kilos.

Approximate dimensions are:

Teapot: 29 cm length, 17 cm depth and 13 cm height.

Sugar: 20 cm length, 15 cm width and 11 cm height.

Cream: 13 cm length, 9.5 cm width and 13 cm height.
