Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson, 19th Century Framed Blue Jasperware Portrait Medallion, After John de Vaere. White jasperware portrait profile on blue ground. Mounted on an ebonised frame. The medallion depicts a head and shoulders portrait of Nelson in full-dress uniform. The single gold medal for St Vincent and Star and Riband of the Bath are both visible. Almost certainly Wedgwood, but the plaque cannot be removed from the frame to check for the Wedgwood mark.
Approximate frame dimensions are 16.4 cm height and 16.2 cm length.
Approximate portrait profile dimensions are 7.3cm height and 4.6 cm length.
Approximate weight is 292 grams.
No loss or damage to the portrait medallion, but the blue ground has cracks as per the photos. These cracks are stable with nothing loose. No apparent restoration.
