Of rectangular form with engine turned detail and a gilt washed interior. The cover with Art Deco Carouche containing initials and the regimental badge. The interior with a 1936 personal inscription to Staff Sergeant A E Burt of the Madura Motor Troop.
Formed in 1904, the Southern Provinces Mounted Rifles, became part of the Auxiliary Forces India. The unit was disbanded in 1947. The regiment had a northern and southern group forming nine light motor patrols. Madura (Madurai) was part of the southern group.
Hallmarked for Birmingham 1935 by Joseph Gloster Ltd.
In excellent condition, free of dents, creases and repair. Light surface wear commensurate with age.
