BEAUTIFUL COTTON and Lurex decor MADRAS lace for panel or tablecover

Madras, a woven lace, is named after the city in India where the Victorians set up lace making factories in the mid 19th century. the weaving process for Madras lace is slow, taking a full day to produce twelve yards. The fabric is woven onto a net that is so sheer it resembles silk. This is the very finest lace made today. The result is a truly magnificent fabric with a rich overlay of pattern.
Although all the Madras fabrics are as sheer as silk, the solid weave of the lace offers considerable privacy.
An elegant and normally very costly fabric, Madras is currently on display in the White House in a number of room settings

Madras lace is the finest woven lace made today. The manufacturing process is slow - taking a full day to produce 12 yards

THIS IS AN ORIGINAL TOP END DESIGNER LACE PANELLING

Paisley or Paisley pattern is a term in English for a design using the buta or boteh, a droplet-shaped vegetable motif of Persian (i.e. Iranian) origin. Such designs became very popular in the West in the 18th and 19th centuries, following imports of post-Mughal versions of the design from India, especially in the form of Kashmir shawls, and were then imitated locally.Resembling a twisted teardrop, the fig-shaped paisley is of Persian (i.e. Iranian) origin, but its western name derives from the town of Paisley, in West Scotland, a centre for textiles where paisley designs were produced.[1]The modern French words for paisley are boteh, cachemire (cashmere; capitalized, "Kashmir") and palme, the latter being a reference to the palm tree, which, along with the pine tree and the cypress tree, is one of the traditional botanical motifs thought to have influenced the shape of the paisley element as it is now known.- wikipedia
