A vintage Moorcroft vase in the Mamoura design by Sally Tuffin.
The height is 135mm (5.31 inch).
The design was introduced in 1992 and the candlestick symbol on the base, been the year cypher for 1992, shows this also as the year the vase was made.
Sally Tuffin was already a recognised designer when she joined Moorcroft in 1986 and took over full responsibility for design following Walter Moorcroft's retirement in 1987. She was in fact only the third designer, after William and Walter Moorcroft, since the company began.
Sally Tuffin designs are now very collectable.
The vase is in excellent condition.
Research advises the Mamoura design was inspired by mythology of the Middle East and was one of the designs from 1992 which were based on landscape themes.
This vase in the Mamoura pattern is available by placing an order online or by a visit to the Antiques Centre in York. The vase can be found in Cabinet 138 situated on the Lower Ground Floor along with additional items of Moorcroft pottery from early vintage pieces to more modern times.
