A vintage boxed Moorcroft pin dish in the Finches design by Sally Tuffin.
The diameter is 117mm and the height 19mm.
The Finches design on a blue ground was introduced in 1988.
On the base are the impressed MOORCROFT and MADE IN ENGLAND backstamps along with the impressed 'Eye' year cypher for 1994 showing this as the actual year of production, hence a genuine vintage piece.
Sally Tuffin was already a recognised designer when she joined Moorcroft in 1986 and took over the full responsibility for design following Walter Moorcroft's retirement in 1987. She was in fact only the third designer, after William and Walter Moorcroft, since the company began.
The detail contained within this design is certainly worthy of special note. There is a finch against a background of berries, fruit (understood to be pomegranate) and leaves. The eye is easily drawn into the scene where the skills of the tube liner and painter can be admired as well as the those of the designer. Sally Tuffin designs are now very collectable.
Condition: Vintage items may have imperfections due to the manufacturing processes of the day, usage perhaps over many years and how an item has been stored. Small surface marks or areas of wear etc may be present but any significant issues will always be highlighted in the description, and any questions will be answered as accurately as possible.
Items offered for sale are assessed as in good, very good or excellent condition (lower quality items are not dealt with). This pin dish has been closely inspected and the upper surface is in excellent condition. There is very minor crazing on the light area of the base and again some very minor discolouration, possibly where the pin dish has been in contact with a liquid. Overall the pin dish has been assessed as in very good vintage condition. The box is in excellent condition. Nb as the item has not been owned since new the box cannot be guaranteed to be the original one.
A very attractive vintage item to add to a collection.
