An Edwardian Silver Inkstand With Two Inkwells and a Bell, 'Given By King Edward 1908'.
Provenance ex Earls of Leicester, Holkham Hall, Norfolk.
Hallmarked for London 1909 by Daniel & John Wellby. The matching hallmarks are on the underside of the base, inkwell holders, inkwell covers and bell.
Approximate silver weight is 806 grams or 25.9 troy ounces.
Approximate total weight is 930 grams.
Approximate dimensions are 24 cm length, 16.3 cm width and 12.5 cm height.
In good condition with no dents or creases. One of the glass liners is possibly a replacement, as they differ in size. One of the silver inkwell holders has had a seam repair (last photo) and this has caused some clouding (firescale) of the silver. The presentation inscription predates the manufacture of the inkstand. It is possible that it was inscribed after the presentation and has been incorrectly engraved.
