Georgian, George IV, Pair of Old Sheffield Plate Armorial Wine Coolers. Of campana form with leaf capped twin handles. The rims with applied shell and leaf decoration. Each wine cooler has a detachable inner rim. The wine coolers feature an armorial to one side and a crest to the other side. The crest is of a stag's head gorged with a wreath of leaves and this is for Hicks. The armorial is the marital arms of Hicks and Bailey. A copy of the heraldry report is included in the purchase price. The detachable rims are numbered 1 and 2, corresponding to numbers inside the cooler rims.
Each has the orb and cross mark for Blagden, Hodgson & Co, Sheffield circa 1820.
In excellent order with areas of warm copper bleed and light surface wear commensurate with age. The wine coolers have not been replated.
