Georgian, George IV, Old Sheffield Plate Sauce Tureen. circa 1820 - 1830. Of twin handled oval form with a domed and part fluted cover surmounted by a fixed naturalistic handle. The tureen is raised on four lion paw feet with acanthus shoulders. One side features a rubbed in silver square and the cover with rolled over silver edges. The rim of the tureen with gadrooned detail.
In excellent order with light surface wear commensurate with age. The cover is numbered 3 and the tureen is numbered 1.
Approximate weight is 850 grams.
