A George III set of Silver & Mother of Pearl Dessert Knives and Forks for Twelve. Each piece with the initial B.
Hallmarked for Sheffield 1819 by James Crawshaw. Some of the date letters on the forks are only partially visible due to being on the thin round stem. The forks have no maker's marks. All hallmarks have been photographed.
In fair to good condition. The tines and blades are all in very good order with light wear.
Two fork handles have retaining pins and splits/cracks to the handles. Two further fork handles have only splits/cracks. All of the fork handle splits/cracks are stable and do not affect use. One fork handle has a very small chip. One fork with a different silver collar.
Three knife handles appear to be slightly shorter than the remaining nine. One knife handle has a hairline crack.
The damaged fork handles are shown in the last two photos. The set is ready to use and all handles are secure in their sockets. Not for dishwasher use, wash only in lukewarm soapy water.
Approximate total weight of the twenty four pieces is 977 grams.
Approximate knife dimensions are 20.5 cm length and 1.7 cm blade width.
Approximate fork dimensions are 17 cm length and 1.7 cm tine width.
