Georgian, George III, Old Sheffield Plate Crested Cake Basket, circa 1770 - 1780. Raised on an oval peirced foot with an ornate beaded swing handle, beaded rim and intricate hand sawn pierced decoration throughout. The main surface features a crest of a stag with its head lowered.

In excellent order with no damage to the pierced decoration. The basket has been replated. Slight distortion to the oval foot. Light surface wear commensurate with age.

Approximate weight is 699 grams.

Approximate dimensions are 36 cm length, 27 cm width and 12 cm height (26 cm with handle raised).
