Georgian, George II, Silver Lidded Tankard. Features a scroll handle with heart shaped terminal, a hinged and domed cover with fluted thumb piece, reeded girdle and a skirted base. Later high quality repousse detail of scrolls, foliage and cherubs sat either side of a vacant cartouche. The interior is fully gilded.
Hallmarked to the upper part of the body for London 1748 by Henry Brind. Partially marked to the handle with the makers mark. The makers mark is partially obscured, but is certainly that of Henry Brind, a prolific tankard maker.
In excellent order with no dents. There has been a very old repair to a split and this is covered with a diamond shaped patch in the handle area. There is a photo showing how this looks on the interior. The tankard is watertight and holds one litre. Light surface wear commensurate with age and the handle with light pressure marks
Approximate weight is 723 grams or 23.2 troy ounces.
