Georgian, Early George II, Crested Silver Coffee Pot. The crest is that of Baron Monson of Burton Hall in the county of Lincolnshire. There is an inscription dated 1869 to one side from Lord & Lady Monson to the Honourable and Reverend Evelyn Monson. Lord Monson was William John Monson (1829 - 1898) and he was later known as 1st Viscount Oxenbridge. He was also a Member of Parliament.
Of tapering cylindrical form with a skirted base and an ebonised wooden scroll handle. Features later chased decoration and an ogee domed and hinged cover.
Hallmarked to the underside of the base for London 1731 by Thomas Tearle. The inside of the cover is hallmarked with the lion passant.
In excellent order with light surface wear commensurate with age.
Approximate weight is 924 grams or 29.7 troy ounces.
Approximate dimensions are 25 cm height, 22 cm handle to spout length and 12 cm base diameter.
