Georgian, George II, Pair of Crested Silver Sauce Boats. Each sauce boat is raised on three shell capped hoof feet. Flying scroll handles and a wavy rim.
The hallmarks are very rubbed but the lion passant mark clearly shows the three indentations to the bottom of the mark which was in use for London between 1739 and 1755. The H mark visible has to be part of the maker's mark as there was no capital H date letter in use for this period. The most likely maker is Henry Brind, known for making sauce boats. He was active from 1742 until 1766, so fits into the time frame. There would appear to be no other sauce boat makers using this font of capital H in their makers mark during this period.
Both are in excellent condition with moderate surface wear commensurate with age. The pair are free of dents and creases.
