French armorial silver plated soup tureen and cover. The lobed cover features a beautiful armorial under a coronet. The tureen itself is probably a liner that sat within another tureen, but it is still fully functional and attractive to look at. The elaborate handle is of a fruit, or bud, emerging from a bed of leaves. The bud, or fruit, can be detached from the base, as per my photographs.
In excellent order with light surface wear and the occasional very light depression to the base of the tureen.
Hallmarked to the base of the tureen for Jean Francois Veyrat, Paris, circa 1840.
Approximate weight is 1.8 kilos.
Approximate dimensions are 30 cm length, 21.5 cm width and 18.5 cm height.
