This is a 19th century high quality French object de vertu circular box with extremely fine guilloché/engine-turning, chased floral border set with gem stones, gilt interior and exterior, I believe the gem stones to be synthetic rubies (although they could be natural rubies), I do not think they are garnets or glass. French silver hallmark on the rim.
