An elegant early 20th-century circular brooch measuring 27mm in diameter, beautifully crafted in 15ct gold and platinum and set with old-cut diamonds and a natural grey pearl. The open circular frame features fine platinum detailing surrounding a graceful floral motif. At its centre sits a natural grey pearl measuring approximately 3.5mm in diameter, surrounded by a flower-shaped cluster of sparkling old-cut diamonds. Further diamonds accent the delicately curved stem and leaves, giving the brooch a wonderfully light and feminine appearance.
The combination of yellow gold, bright platinum and old-cut diamonds is characteristic of fine jewellery of the period, with the contrasting metals particularly effective in highlighting the diamond-set elements.
The edge of the brooch bears the personal engraving “B&H 25-2-17”, maybe gifted to a special someone on this date. This adds an appealing element of social history and provenance.
The brooch has been tested as 15ct gold and platinum. The diamonds are old cut and the pearl has been tested as natural. Gross weight 4.2g.
