Early 19th Century Charles James Fox Brass Snuff Box. Features Greek key pattern to the side of the box.
Charles James Fox (1749 - 1806) was a radical Whig politician who opposed the monarch. He was Foreign Secretary in Rockingham's short-lived government of 1782 and was Secretary of State in the Duke of Portland's government of 1783-84. He supported the French Revolution in 1789, but by 1804 was instrumental in bringing down the government of Addington who had failed either to preserve the peace or to prepare for Napoleon's threat of invasion.
In very good condition, free of dents and creases. Scratch marks to the underside.
