Description
The 6cm miniature pillar formed part of the quarter-scale miniature of Dracula’s Castle used in the 1992 Gothic Horror Film directed by Francis Ford Coppola. The resin pillar is intricately painted in brown & black to imitate metal erosion & has adhesive remnants on its base where it would have been attached to the model castle. All of the visual effects in the Film were achieved without using CGI; & were instead created using techniques from the early history of cinema. These miniature pillars would have helped to create forced perspectives; an optical illusion used in film production to make an object appear larger or smaller than it actually is. The pillar comes mounted inside a framed display (15 x 12 inches overall) with two corresponding stills & a descriptive plaque.
