A boxed Moorcroft pin dish in the Claremont Revival design with special backstamp.
The diameter is 117mm and the height 19mm.
The base markings show a design copyright date of 2013 and in addition there is the xylophone 2013 year cypher which shows this year also as the year of production.
Interesting it was in August 1913 that William Moorcroft moved to his newly built factory at Cobridge on the outskirts of Burslem so 2013 would be just 100 years later, and on the base of this pin dish is a special backstamp of a building (resembling a church) with 1913 – 2013 underneath.
Nb this is not to be confused with another Moorcroft centenary as Moorcroft chose 1997 to be their actual centenary year i.e. 100 years from when William Moorcroft began his career with James MacIntyre and the HC centenary year cypher for 1997 would normally be shown on items produced in 1997.
This Claremont Revival pin dish and the box are both in excellent condition and given the special backstamp may well be of added interest to a collector.
The item is available online only however if visiting the Antiques Centre in York please visit Cabinet 138 situated on the Lower Ground Floor to view other items of Moorcroft Pottery from vintage pieces to more modern examples.
