Description
A very rare to find world war one period , German army deactivated smoke stick grenade.
This item which dates to 1914 -18 , is in extremely good condition for a relic excavated item.
It has purpose made perforations in the head which allowed the smoke to pour out when thrown. The original wooden handle is in good solid condition as is the retaining collar.
The other features which are still present include the belt / boot hook and the string pull cover on the end of the handle.
Size 36.5 CM in length
Complete with purpose made metal display stand.
From original excavations on the Somme in the early 1970s.
