A small vintage Moorcroft footed bowl in the Freesia design by Walter Moorcroft.
The diameter is 78mm and the height 33mm.
This bowl has the 'Potters To The Late Queen Mary' paper label on the base, and as this label was used from 1953 to 1978 the bowl can be dated to this period. Additionally however, referral to one of the reference books recommended by Moorcroft advises that the Freesia design was drawn in 1955 and used on a small number of items over the next couple of years.
The bowl is clearly of genuine vintage age and as the Freesia design is likely to somewhat rarer the bowl may well be of added interest to a collector.
The bowl has been closely inspected and assessed as in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration noted. The colours remain bright and on the dark blue ground make for an attractive item ready to add to a collection.
There is a box labelled Moorcroft however as the bowl as not been owned from new it cannot be guaranteed to be a genuine Moorcroft/original box.
This vintage Moorcroft bowl in the freesia design is only available online, however if visiting the Antiques Centre in York please view Cabinet 138 situated on the Lower Ground Floor, for other Moorcroft Pottery, including early vintage and more modern pieces.
Please Note: This item is offered for sale for purposes of display, collecting etc and my not be suitable for use with foodstuff.
