A lovely looking Roman bronze openwork knife handle,showing a dog chasing a hare.

This item which dates to the 2nd -3rd century AD, is in wonderful all over condition.

It has wonderful style and form and it still retains some small elements of the original iron blade.

These were one of the first type of period folding pocket knives , with a popular hunting scene design.
