A vintage Moorcroft vase in the Cluny design by Sally Tuffin.
The height is 106mm
The 'Jug/Pitcher' symbol on the base is the 'year cypher' for 1999 showing this as the year of production, hence a genuine vintage item.
Sally Tuffin was already a recognised designer when she joined Moorcroft in 1986 and took over full responsibility for design following the retirement of Walter Moorcroft in 1987. She was in fact only the third designer, after William and Walter Moorcroft, since the company began.
Sally Tuffin designs are now very collectable.
It is understood the Cluny design was inspired by medieval tapestry and was one of the designs from 1992 which were based on landscape themes.
The vase has been closely inspected and is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
A very attractive vintage item.
This vase in the Cluny design is available by ordering online only however if visiting the Antiques Centre in York please visit Cabinet 138, which can be found on the Lower Ground Floor, to view a selection of Moorcroft pottery from early vintage pieces to more modern examples.
