A vintage Moorcroft vase in the Anemone design.
The height is 97mm
The anemone pattern was first designed by William Moorcroft in 1938 and then redrawn by Walter Moorcroft in 1975. Walter Moorcroft retired in 1987 but in 1988 he was invited to redraw the original design, and the new range was issued in 1989.
The backstamps include the HC year cypher for 1997 showing this as the year the vase was made. Interestingly, Moorcroft chose 1997 to be their centenary year i.e. 100 years from when William Moorcroft began his career with James MacIntyre.
The vase has been closely inspected and assessed as in excellent condition.
This vintage Moorcroft vase is available by online order only however if visiting the Antiques Centre in York please visit Cabinet 138 which can be found on the Lower Ground Floor, to view a selection of Moorcroft pottery from early vintage pieces to more modern examples.
