A vintage Moorcroft vase in the Rose design by Sally Tuffin.
With a height of 19.1cm (7.51inch) a diameter (across the widest section of the body) of 13.3cm (5.23inch) and a weight of 721grams the vase is an impressive item.
The Rose design was introduced in 1987 and withdrawn in 1991. The Bell mark on the base is the year cypher for 1991 showing this as the year the vase was was actually made.
Sally Tuffin was already a recognised designer when she joined Moorcroft in 1986 and took over the full responsibility for design following Walter Moorcroft's retirement in 1987. She was in fact only the third designer, after William and Walter Moorcroft, since the company began.
This vase has been closely inspected and assessed as in excellent condition. Also the vase seems virtually unaffected by crazing apart from the few lines on the base. It might be more reasonable to describe it as in absolutely superb condition.
Sally Tuffin designs are now very collectable and this vase could make a nice addition to many a collection of vintage Moorcroft pottery.
The design presents an attractive combination of style and sophistication which along with its physical size means it may well be suitable to display as a stand alone specimen piece as well as been part of a collection.
