A vintage Moorcroft pin dish in the Mamoura design by Sally Tuffin.
The diameter is 118mm and the height 17mm.
The design was introduced in 1992 and the diamond symbol on the base, been the year cypher for 1993, shows this as the year the dish was actually made.
Sally Tuffin was already a recognised designer when she joined Moorcroft in 1986 and took over full responsibility for design following Walter Moorcroft's retirement in 1987. She was in fact only the third designer, after William and Walter Moorcroft, since the company began.
Sally Tuffin designs are now very collectable.
The pin dish is in excellent condition.
A lovely design which features hills and trees in the foreground, with a teal background (Nb The camera image shows as darker tone than the actual teal colour). Research advises the Mamoura design was inspired by mythology of the Middle East and was one of the designs from 1992 which were based on landscape themes.
This pin dish in the Mamoura pattern is available online only, however if visiting the Antiques Centre in York, please visit Cabinet 138 situated on the Lower Ground Floor to view a selection of Moorcroft pottery from early vintage pieces to more modern examples.
