A very attractive Moorcroft colour trial vase with colours graduating upwards from shades of green through to shades of blue.
The vase has a height of 106mm
Regarding age this vase has the 'leaf' year cypher on the base showing 2001 as the year of production.
While the vase is not marked on the base as a Trial there is a colour stated (not normally the case with non trial items) and this along with the style of colouration suggests the vase is a colour trial item and is listed as such.
Moorcroft pattern designs start as trials and are produced by the designer until a final version is selected for production or a decision made not to proceed. Some collectors concentrate on trial items perhaps because of the individuality they offer or because they prefer a trial version to the final product. There are also colour trials which allow designers to investigate how different colours work with each other. These might also be very collectable, particularly as they may well be unique.
The vase has been closely inspected and is considered to be in excellent condition. The glaze appears absolutely pristine with a clarity that highlights the colours superbly.
The vase represents a different aspect to the design styles normally associated with Moorcroft, and offers a collector an opportunity to add interest and variety. Perhaps a collector interested in the production processes as well as the beauty of a item itself.
The vase would certainly complement many modern settings where minimalistic designs seem to be the order of the day.
