A vintage Moorcroft bowl in the Hibiscus pattern by Walter Moorcroft.
The diameter at the rim is 160mm (6.29inch) and the height 65mm (2.55inch)
Regarding age, it can be difficult to assess with absolute certainty as some production runs could be quite long, and it was not until 1990 that Moorcroft began using year cyphers to show when an item was actually made.
With this bowl however the style of the impressed MOORCROFT and MADE IN ENGLAND stamps on the base suggest a date range c1949 to 1986
To narrow this down further the original hibiscus pattern was designed by Walter Moorcroft in 1949 and then redrawn from 1960. The coral hibiscus pattern originally from 1968 was also designed by Walter Moorcroft. Once introduced designs could of course be further developed over time. Given that the design featured here is a coral hibiscus pattern it would be reasonable to assess the age of the bowl as c1970's to mid 1980's.
The bowl is clearly of genuine vintage age.
This bowl has been closely inspected and assessed as in very good vintage condition with no chips, cracks or restoration noted. In fact if it were not for a tiny scuff mark on the lower section of the body, as can just be seen from image 5 the bowl would have achieved an excellent vintage assessment and be offered for sale at a higher price.
The bright colours on the dark green ground, with the hibiscus decoration on both the inner and outer surfaces, make for an attractive item which should prove a worthy addition to many a collection of vintage Moorcroft pottery.
