A large vintage Moorcroft vase in the Hibiscus pattern by Walter Moorcroft.
With a height of 210mm (8.26 inch) a diameter (across the widest section of the body) of 149mm (5.86inch) and a weight approaching 1Kg (actual weight 946g) the vase is an impressive item.
The hibiscus pattern has been one of Moorcroft's most enduring designs with a number of developments over the years. Originally drawn by Walter Moorcroft c1949 developments included changes in the early 1960's, the coral hibiscus pattern been introduced in 1968 and further designs following on for some years.
This vase has the 'Potters To The Late Queen Mary' paper label on the base, and as this label was used from 1953 to 1978 the vase can be dated to this period, and is clearly of genuine vintage age.
The vase has been closely inspected and is in excellent condition with a great deal of content in the design. There are three hibiscus deep pink/red and yellow tone flowers continuously around the body.
The vase should prove a worthy addition to many a collection of vintage Moorcroft pottery. Of course, given its physical size the vase could be displayed as a stand alone specimen item, as an alternative to been part of a collection.
This vintage Moorcroft hibiscus vase is available by online order only. If planning to visit the Antiques Centre in York further pieces of Moorcroft pottery can be viewed in Cabinet 138 situated on the lower ground floor.
