A large vintage Moorcroft vase in the Hibiscus pattern by Walter Moorcroft.
With a height of 26cm (10.23inch) and a weight of 0.88kg the vase is certainly an impressive item.
This vase has been closely inspected and assessed as in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
The colours remain bright and on the dark green ground make for an attractive item which should prove a worthy addition to many a collection of vintage Moorcroft pottery.
Regarding age, it can be difficult to assess with absolute certainty as some production runs could be quite long, and it was not until 1990 that Moorcroft began using year cyphers to show when an item was actually made.
With this vase however the style of the impressed MOORCROFT and MADE IN ENGLAND stamps on the base suggest a date range c1949 to 1986
To narrow this down further the original hibiscus pattern was designed by Walter Moorcroft in 1949 and then redrawn from 1960. The coral hibiscus pattern originally from 1968 was also designed by Walter Moorcroft. Once introduced designs could of course be further developed over time. Given that the design featured here is a coral hibiscus pattern it would be reasonable to assess the age of the vase as c1970's to mid 1980's and clearly of genuine vintage age.
Ready to add to a collection, or alternatively, given its physical size, display as a stand alone specimen item where it would likely demand more than 'a second glance' from visitors.
