Victorian Royal Engineers Regimental Silver Table Snuff Box. Of rectangular form with incurved corners and gothic style engraved detail. The cover inscription reads:
'PRESENTED TO THE ROYAL ENGINEER MESS BY THE OFFICERS WHO LEFT WOOLWICH ON THE 23RD JUNE 1884'.
Hallmarked for Birmingham 1866 by Colen Hewer Cheshire.
In excellent condition, free of dents, creases, splits and repairs. Wear to the gilded interior and faded inscription to the cover, as per the photographs. All is readable, but the year is extremely faded and would appear to be 1884.
Approximate weight is 184 grams or 5.9 troy ounces.
Approximate dimensions are 10 cm length, 6.5 cm width and 2.3 cm depth.
