Vice Admiral Francis Decimus Hastings, Royal Navy, An Old Sheffield Plate Armorial Meat Dome.
The armorial commemorates the marriage of Vice Admiral Francis Decimus Hastings (1795 - 1869) and Mary Wigley Perrott (1793 - 1846). He joined the Royal Navy in 1807, rising through the ranks and serving on HMS Temeraire, HMS Amethyst, HMS Acasta, HMS Iris, HMS San Domingo, HMS Argo, HMS Ville de Paris, HMS Stag, HMS Excellent and HMS Edinburgh. He took part in the bombardment and capture of St Jean D'Acre and action at Beirut Castle, during the Syrian War of 1840. A professional heraldry report accompanies this item.
In excellent condition, free of dents, creases and repair. The dome has not been replated.
Marked to the interior for Waterhouse, Hatfield & Co., Sheffield circa 1835 - 1840.
