A Large George IV Silver Inkstand. Of shaped rectangular form with a heavily gadrooned border. The inkstand has two diamond cut glass inkwells, wafer box, taperstick holder, snuffer and two pen recesses. It is raised on four large and ornate bracket feet.
Hallmarked to the underside of the base for London 1825 by Joseph Angell I. Further hallmarked, with matching marks, to the bottle holders, bottle caps, bottle collars, wafer box, taperstick base, taperstick nozzle and taperstick snuffer.
In excellent order with no damage, or repair, to the silver. There are a few minor flea bites and nibbles to the glass. Light surface wear commensurate with age. Higher surface wear to the underside of the base, taperstick base and snuffer.
Approximate silver weight is 1.578 kilos or 50.7 troy ounces.
Approximate total weight is 1.979 kilos.
