A George III Armorial Silver Inkstand with the Arms of Chasey. Of shaped rectangular form with leaf detail at each corner and a gadrooned border. Raised on four wonderfully ornate outswept bracket feet. The inkstand base features two pen rests and three cut glass bottles, two for ink and one for sanding powder. The bottles are held in place by pierced silver holders.
The armorial is for the family of Chasey from West and East Pennard in the County of Somerset. A brief heraldry report accompanies this item.
The underside of the base is hallmarked for London 1768 by Andrew Fogelberg. The three pierced bottle holders are hallmarked with the lion passant. The bottle collars and caps are not hallmarked.
The insktand is in excellent order with light surface wear commensurate with age. There are no dents or creases and no sign of repair. The glass is in excellent order.
