A George III Old Sheffield Plate Cake Basket Crested For General Sir Robert William Gardiner GCB KCH.

General Sir Robert William Gardiner GCB KCH (1781 - 1864) of Melbourne Lodge, Claremont, Esher, Surrey, Fought in the French Revolutionary, Peninsular and Napoleonic Wars, Including Rolica, Badajoz, Barossa, Vimeiro, Corruna, Cadiz, Salamanca, Toulouse, Madrid, Burgos, Vitoria, Orthez, Tarbes, Quatre Bras and Waterloo. Served as Aide-de-Camp to George IV, William IV and Queen Victoria and was Later Appointed Governor of Gibraltar. He was also Master Gunner, St James's Park, the most senior ceremonial position in the Royal Artillery, after the Sovereign. A professional heraldry report accompanies this item.

In very good condition being free of dents and creases. The handle will stay in the upright position, but is a little loose and will fall down if knocked. Moderate surface wear commensurate with age.
