A Late 19th / Early 20th Century French Silver Soup Ladle with Foliate Stamped Handle. Monogrammed to the reverse of the handle terminal.
The house of Puiforcat was establised in 1820 and produced elegant cutlery and table accessories in both silver and vermeil. Later they began to produce copies of 17th and 18th century silverware. In 1857, Émile Puiforcat, newly at the helm of the company, registered the hallmark still in use today to certify the authenticity of Puiforcat creations. In 1993 Puiforcat became part of the Hermes group.
Marked to the interior of the bowl with the octagonal Minerva mark for 950 silver and the makers mark of a pocket knife flanked with the initials E and P within a diamond silhouette for Puiforcat.
In excellent condition with light surface wear. Some heat marks at the terminal and base of the handle.
Approximate weight is 247 grams or 7.9 troy ounces.
