8th Punjab Regiment, British Indian Army, Silver Plated Horse Hoof Inkwell with Applied Regimental Badge. Marked as Mappin & Webb Prince's Plate (triple deposit), circa 1930.
The 8th Punjab Regiment was formed in 1922 from the amalgamation ofthe 1st Battalion, 89th Punjabis, the 90th Punjabis, the 91st Punjabis, the 92nd (Prince of Wales's Own) Punjabis, the 93rd Burma Infantry and the 2nd Battalion 89th Punjabis. With the Partition of India in 1947 the regiment became part of Pakistan's armed forces.
Approximate weight is 468 grams.
Approximate dimensions are 12 cm length, 8.4 cm width and 6.5 cm height.
In good condition with no glass damage and no loss of silver plate. Wear to the actual horse hoof with some small holes, as per the photos.
