A rare-find Early Victorian pink conch shell cameo ring made in Chester. The mount and both sides of the shank feature intricately engraved scrollwork patterns. The inner side of the shank is stamped with the Chester assay office hallmark, along with "9" and "375," indicating 9-carat gold purity, and a gothic letter “a", denoting the year 1864.
The cameo is expertly carved from an entire piece of conch shell, portraying a three-quarter profile of a lady. While the surface shows signs of wear consistent with age, the details remain generally discernible.
